Key Tax Dates
January 2026: IRS begins accepting 2025 individual tax returns
- April 15, 2026: Federal individual tax return deadline
- April 15, 2026: Deadline to pay any tax due (even if an extension is filed)
- October 15, 2026: Extended filing deadline (extension must be requested by April 15)
What to Start Gathering Now
To avoid delays, please begin collecting the following as soon as available:
Income Documents
- W-2s from all employers
- 1099 forms (NEC, MISC, INT, DIV, K-1, SSA-1099, unemployment, etc.)
- Records of self-employment, gig, or side income
Deductions & Adjustments
- Mortgage interest statements
- Property tax receipts
- Charitable contribution records
- Retirement contributions (IRA, Roth IRA)

Credits & Other Items
